Blog Love!

Oh, I love the internet.  So many cool people to meet.  I have been really lucky to have the opportunity to get to know Madalynne, after releasing my Betty Pattern.  She is one talented woman and has some mad photoshop skills.  She posted her take on my Betty knickers, and shows you how you can straighten your princess seams.  Madalynne found that her fabric stretched a lot on the bias.  Every fabric is a little different.  Cutting an even square of fabric, then measuring how much it stretches, can help you determine if you need to cut a smaller size.  I still stand by the fact that fitting is an art, not a science! PS.  There is a give away going on over at Madalynne.com for a voucher for Flirty Thirties that I think you might be interested in!

I was really surprised to find my Ballet Pink set featured on the website of the Finnish Magazine, Trend!  Little, small town me never could have imagined someone so far away liking what I do! I wish Google Translate could translate Finnish a little better because it looks like an awesome magazine!

This week was a brutal one for me.  All week I’ve felt like my patience had been tested, I was tired, dragging myself to work each day, feeling like just nothing was going right.  We all have those weeks, right?  Then, to my surprise, I found my Betty Pattern had been featured on one of my sewing idol’s blogs – Gertie’s Blog for Better Sewing! Totally turned my sour mood right around.  In the last couple of months, I have had some great feedback from the Lingerie Addict, and now Gertie.  I am feeling even more confident and excited about Ohhh Lulu.  A Big, big, big “Thank you!”

Remember the lovely padded sets I made a few weeks back? Well, I was so please to see the recipient wrote this amazing post on Style & Then Some.  Sophie was such a doll to work with.  Feedback like this quite literally brings a tear to my eye.  After years of working hard and doing jobs I didn’t really want to do (and sometimes down right hated), it is so rewarding to be able to do something that I love, and to make something that other people cherish.

Thanks everyone! It has been a great week! I am excited to have a 4 day weekend this weekend, and a mini vacation coming up.  I’ll be sticking around the house, sewing, gardening, dog-sitting, and of course, blogging

I was absolutely thrilled to have my Midnight Camisole featured on the Lingerie Addict.  I love the Lingerie Addict and it’s been a dream for me to be on that blog, so this little feature on June 21st was just awesome.  If you are not familiar with the Lingerie Addict, it really is an amazing source for lingerie reviews, latest styles and collections… and beautiful examples of lingerie.  She does such a nice job of featuring so many types of lingerie – handmade, corsetry, lingerie for fuller figures, lingerie for petite women.  Ok, ok, I’ll stop swooning…
Yesterday I received an email from Jeanmarie from Mathewson photography.  Jeanmarie takes the most beautiful boudoir photos, they look like they could be straight out of Vogue.  I was so happy to see that she had featured a selection of my lingerie on her blog.  I really wish I lived closer, I would love to do a photoshoot with her!

What I’ve been up to…

What have I been up to this week?

The super nice and talented Lizz asked me to guest blog on her blog A Good Wardrobe last week.  I’ve written a tutorial on how to add some feminine, Ohhh Lulu-style details to the Betty Pattern   Click here to read my post, I’ve got some tips on adding ruffles (of course), and a cute heart applique, using a card-stock template and  basting stitches to create perfectly pressed curved edges.

Hi!! I’m over here on A Good Wardrobe!

Last night I bought the Sewaholic Minoru Jacket Pattern, which I’ve been eyeing for sometime now.  I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a light, spring jacket and cannot find anything ready made that I like.  Every thing is a weird length, or too “fluffy” (I tried a trench coat style jacket on with frills that came up to my cheeks!), the wrong colour, or just a bad fit for my short yet curvy physique.  I’m really excited to get the pattern.  I’m planning on making two.  I know this is a popular pattern – anyone have any finished Minoru Jacket’s to show me?

Monday night I kicked my own butt in yoga, and am still sore, but in a good way.  Tonight I’m off to sweat my brains out at Hot Yoga.

This morning I posted new banners on my side bar – I got some really amazing entries this time around, and found some new blogs to follow, but I’ll be posting more about that later…

Lastly, I’ve been drooling over Maddie’s blog, Madalynne.  Isn’t it just lovely?

I’m so excited. I am snagged a banner spot over at The Vintage Wife, which is one of my favourite blogs! I’m hoping to see my banner go up in August, which will link back to my blog – since my Etsy shop is currently on Vacation until after the wedding.
