Put your hair up

New Items

I love these hair ties.

I posted a tutorial for these bad boys a few years back. You can check it out here.  They are a perfect way to use up small pieces of fold over elastic. The best part about these elastics are that they are sewn, not tied, so there are no unsightly or uncomfortable knots.

My hair is pretty long these days… I just don’t have the time to maintain the shorter bob I had been wearing for a while. Anyway, I like the long, natural look on me. But, because I spend most of my days either in front of a sewing machine (or chasing after a preschooler), my hair usually ends up in a ponytail or messy bun (though braids have been a favourite these last few weeks).

I first started making these hair elastics out of a mixture of laziness and necessity. Sitting in front of my sewing machine, I’d be without an elastic, so I’d stitch one together and voila!

Since I started making them, I began giving them away to friends, including them in gifts, as party favours for Isabel’s birthdays, or ‘just because’.  I also have amassed a large stockpile through out my house to keep mine and Isabel’s hair in check.

I wear these running, I wear these swimming… I wear these every damn place. I love them.  And the best part is, they look as pretty around your wrist as they do in your hair!

I’ve just added a selection of satin elastic 3-packs to my shop. I have adult AND kid sizes! The kid sizes are the size I make for Isabel, who for a soon-to-be-4-year-old has quite thick hair. I find they are perfect for ponytails or top knots for her, but they also work in my hair if I’m just doing a pony tail (there’s no way they fit around a bun).

I’ve posted a bunch of fun prints and pretty solids.  I’m kind of addicted to these things. They’re relaxing to make and fun to wear. Isabel loves them and it makes doing her hair in the morning much more enjoyable – she gets excited about choosing between unicorns or rainbows. Anything to make mornings a little easier, right?
